About Us

At Patchwork we believe in the power of community.

Community is family, and family is strength.

We strive to provide all those who exist under the transgender, non-binary, gender non-conforming, and intersex umbrella free access to peer-led, peer-focused support. We offer peer support groups centered on the intersectional needs of a diverse community (including QTPOC, Indigenous, Latinx, neurodiverse, and youth), informational seminars relating to transition support and gender presentation, and resources including links to organizations offering trans-focused medical, legal, mental health, and community services.

Through our work, we hope to foster social equity for TNGBNCI adults, youth, and families by providing the safe and open environment and community support needed to achieve emotional wellness and personal growth for all gender-expansive people.

You are seen. You are heard. You are valid. You are loved.

Our Mission

Patchwork is dedicated to promoting the health and wellness of transgender, non-binary, gender non-conforming, and intersex people through engagement, support, and community. We believe freely available access to peer support and gender-related resources is one of the cornerstones of personal and emotional growth, and is key to achieving social and health equity for all gender expansive peoples.

Commitment

Patchwork believes that for all of us to realize social equity and justice, the most marginalized among us must be centered in our work, our conversations and our community.

Patchwork is dedicated to the reality that we can not fully serve our richly diverse community without our leadership, our staff, and our culture reflecting the beautiful fabric of transgender existence. As such, we are committed to centering and amplifying BIPOC, Latinx, neurodiverse and neuroexpansive, and disabled voices in all aspects of our leadership, administration, and programs.

Our Beginnings

Our story began with one invite-only group organized as a deep listening circle. In that space, six trans people of different gender identities, racial and ethnic backgrounds, national origins, and lived experiences shared openly of themselves in a way that felt meaningful, healing, and affirming. As the group grew, so did the desire to share the safe space those first members had felt and to bring the circle to as many trans people as possible.

In 2023, Patchwork was formed. The deep listening circle became the foundation of a wider family of peer support groups focused on the particular needs of transgender, non-biinary, gender non-conforming, and intersex individuals. As one group became two and then five, new facilitators were added to the family, and Patchwork took on a life of its own.

Today, Patchwork offers peer support groups for a wide variety of gender identities, intersectional experiences, and ages. And we're still growing!
