Facilitators needed! If you are interested in training as a peer support facilitator
The peer group that started it all!
The transgender deep listening circle is a different kind of peer group. In this space, the group members discuss one topic brought by the facilitator or suggested by a member and agreed to by the group. Facilitators will discuss the topic, then ask each member in turn for their thoughts or comments on the topic. Members are encouraged but not required to share. Taking a moment of silence is also perfectly acceptable.
Once all members in the space have had an opportunity weigh in on a topic, the floor is open to free discussion. Members are encouraged to share how others' words and emotions have affected them, questions that arose during the sharing, or concerns they feel having heard all the different thoughts and opinions. Discussion is fluid and more freeform than traditional peer groups, and directed more dynamically by the facilitator.
Crosstalk is allowed and members are not required to remain muted. However members so still use "I" statements and refrain from giving advice or speaking in a place of judgement or with disregard for another's lived experience. All other Patchwork rules and guidelines for support groups apply.
This group is open to individuals of all gender and intersex identities over the age of 18 years.
This group is hosted via Zoom.

Patchwork support groups are intended to offer a safe space to process feelings and experiences related to life as a transgender, non-binary, gender non-conforming, or intersex person. Support groups are educational and supportive in nature and offer opportunities for selfcare only. The groups are not intended, and are in no way meant to offer, render, or represent legal, psychological or healthcare, or social services advice for any individual or situation. Patchwork support will not be construed to provide legal, medical, mental health or any other type of health or social service. No diagnosis, treatment recommendations or advice regarding any legal, medical or mental health condition or illness are offered or implied. Peer support groups cannot be a substitute for, or alternative to, treatment when a medical or mental health condition is present, nor for advice of qualified legal counsel. Support group members are advised to seek professional services from licensed attorneys, physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists and health care or intervention or social service professionals, if and when necessary.
